About the book: “Current State of Hegel’s Thought” Edited by Miguel Giusti Barcelona: Herder, 2022
Hegel’s thought remains highly relevant over 250 years after his birth. His work continues to inspire widespread fascination. In order to decipher the causes and manifestations of the current relevance of his thought, a group of philosophers from different parts of the world, especially Latin America, were brought together.
The question itself contains a suggestive ambivalence that has been taken advantage of in the conception of this volume. On the one hand, “current state” refers to the themes or reasons why Hegel’s thought can be relevant in contemporary debates or in a better understanding of the problems of our society. On the other hand, “current state” also designates a very peculiar feature that, according to Hegel, philosophy should possess. This feature consists of always being the understanding of its own era in thoughts. This dual meaning of the term “current state” serves as the general framework for the essays gathered here.
